Moon Lamp Buying Guide (2026): Table, Floor, Aroma and Levitating Moon Lamps Compared
Search for "moon lamp" and you get one word covering five different objects. Some are palm-sized night lights. Some stand on the floor. Some float. Before you buy one, it helps to know which kind you actually want, because the right one for a nightstand is the wrong one for a living-room corner.
This guide walks through the five types we carry at VigorHaus, what each is good at, and the one question to ask yourself before choosing. Everything here is drawn from the product specifications, so you can compare like with like.
First, the one question: what job is the lamp doing?
A moon lamp is a mood light, not a work light. At 5 to 8 watts it takes the edge off a dark room; it does not replace a ceiling light or a reading lamp. So the question is not "how bright" but "where does the soft light need to be". On a nightstand, on a desk, in a corner at floor level, or in the middle of a shelf where people will notice it. Answer that and the type picks itself.
1. The moon table lamp — for a desk, study or bedside
The Moon Table Lamp is the simplest of the five and our best seller. It has an aluminum body with an electroplated finish, stands about 26 cm tall and runs at 5 W or below. There is no remote and no colour cycling: you switch it on and the moon glows. That restraint is the point. It looks like a piece of decor by day and a soft light by night.
Two versions exist: the standard 5 W, and a "no flicker" version for people who are sensitive to the faint pulsing some cheap LEDs produce. If you plan to leave it on while you read or wind down, the no-flicker version is the safer choice.
Best for: a study desk, a bedside table, a bookshelf in a modern room.
2. The full moon table lamp — for a bedroom that wants colour
The Full Moon Table Lamp is the one to buy if you want the lamp to do more than one thing. It is an 8 W LED in an aluminum-and-silicone body, and it ships with a remote control. In warm white (2700 to 3300 K) it gives over 300 lumens, which is noticeably brighter than the plain moon lamp; switch it to any of the RGBW colours for the evening. It runs on mains power through the included adapter, with US, EU, UK and AU plug options.
Because the remote does everything, this is a good choice for a child's room or for anyone who does not want to reach across the bed to a switch.
Best for: a nightstand, a child's room, a shelf where you want to change the mood.
3. The moon floor lamp — for a corner
The Moon Floor Lamp is a 40 cm moon on a stand, made for the part of a room a table lamp cannot reach. It gives a warm light suited to a room of roughly 10 to 15 square metres and, unlike the others, uses a standard E27 screw-in bulb, so when the bulb goes you replace the bulb and keep the lamp. The body is resin and fibre with an acrylic shade.
One thing to check: it is rated at 220 V. If you are in the US, look at the plug option and check the bulb you fit is suitable for your supply.
Best for: the corner of a living room or bedroom where an overhead light is too harsh.
4. The moon aroma lamp — for scent and a small glow
The Moon Aroma Lamp is the smallest and the least expensive: a USB-powered moon-shaped shade in ABS with a place for a few drops of essential oil. Press the button and you get a soft light and a scent from the same object. At about 25 cm tall it sits on a nightstand or a bathroom shelf without crowding it, and the light source is rated for around 60,000 hours.
Best for: a bedroom or bathroom, or a gift when you do not want to spend much.
5. The levitating star globe — for the shelf people look at
The Levitating Star Globe Lamp is not strictly a moon at all. It is a clear globe printed with constellation lines and star names that hangs in mid-air above a magnetic base finished like a watch dial. Push it and it turns; the light cycles through blue, purple, green, red and warm white. It runs on USB.
It is the one object in this list that people pick up and ask about. If the lamp is going somewhere visible, on a desk, a console table or a shelf at eye level, this is the one.
Best for: a desk or a display shelf; a gift for someone who "has everything".

A note on plugs and voltage
Most of these ship with a choice of US, EU, UK or AU plug in the options menu. Pick the one for the country the lamp will live in, not the one you are ordering from. The full moon lamp's adapter accepts 100 to 240 V, so it works anywhere; the floor lamp and the plain moon table lamp list a 220 V rating, so US buyers should check the plug option and read the listing before ordering.
Which one should you buy?
If you want one lamp and do not want to think about it: the Moon Table Lamp. If you want colour and a remote: the Full Moon Table Lamp. If it is for a corner: the floor lamp. If it is a gift under $20: the aroma lamp. If it needs to be the thing everyone notices: the levitating globe. You can see all five together in our Moon Lamps collection.
